The Mission: Inspect and repair the CHP system at a distribution centre for a leading supermarket in Rochdale. Address a radiator leak, replace faulty O-rings, and resolve additional issues.

Distribution centres are the beating heart of retail operations, where every minute counts. For a place like Rochdale’s distribution hub, reliable power isn’t just important, it’s essential. It keeps the supply chain moving, shelves stocked, and customers happy. When issues cropped up with the CHP system, this supermarket needed someone to step in and sort it properly. That’s where we came in. At Canning, we don’t just fix things, we make sure they’re built to last.

The Solution

City FM brought us in to tackle a few big issues with the CHP system. Firstly, a radiator leak caused by an over-tightened O-ring plate was causing headaches. Then, there were snapped O-rings in the tray wash filters adding to the chaos. As if that wasn’t enough, we uncovered more problems with the pressurisation unit, which had a collapsed plastic receiver nut and a dodgy level switch. It was a right mess, but nothing we couldn’t handle.

Initial Inspection & Repairs

We got stuck in by giving the radiator a proper once-over. After removing the front cover, we bypassed a faulty level switch and filled it with water to track down the problem. It didn’t take long to spot the issue – the O-ring plate had been over-tightened and wasn’t sealing properly. We swapped it out for a new one, putting things right. While we were at it, we replaced the snapped O-rings in the tray wash filters, clearing up any potential leaks there too.

Tackling the Pressurisation Unit

During the refit, we noticed water leaking from the pressurisation unit. A closer look revealed a collapsed plastic receiver nut and a level switch hanging loose inside the tank, letting water run wild. We sorted these out by replacing the damaged components and reinforcing the unit, making it watertight and reliable again.

Final Testing & Clean-Up

Once everything was repaired, we refilled the system, opened the isolation valves, and ran a thorough test to check for leaks – all sorted! We made sure the site was left spotless, sticking to our usual high standards and keeping the client happy.

Conclusion

At Canning, we don’t just patch things up, we fix them properly. For this supermarket’s Rochdale distribution centre, that meant tackling radiator leaks, replacing faulty parts, and reinforcing the pressurisation unit to keep their operations running without a hitch.

Thanks to our expertise and hands-on approach, the CHP system is now reliable, efficient, and ready for whatever comes next. It’s all part of what we do – keeping businesses powered and giving our clients one less thing to worry about.
