The Mission: Fix a non-rotating starter motor issue in the CHP system at Seton Sands Holiday Park.
When running a holiday park, you want your visitors to have a great time and leave with happy memories. That’s why a reliable power supply is vital so that the fun never stops! At a Seton Sands holiday park, their Combined Heat and Power (CHP) system keeps things powered efficiently. But when the system failed to start, it was clear there was an issue with the starter motor.
Bourne Leisure needed an expert team to diagnose the problem, carry out repairs, and make sure the system was back in top working order – so they called in Canning.

The Solution
A non-rotating starter motor means the CHP system couldn’t fire up when needed. Bourne Leisure called us out to carry out an investigation and solve the problem. If left unresolved, this could have caused bigger problems down the line, potentially impacting energy efficiency and reliability at the holiday park.
Investigation
Our engineers arrived on-site and carried out a full inspection to get to the root of the problem. It was clear the starter motor fault was down to a detached link wire crimp at the solenoid terminal. This might sound like gobbledygook, but we were able to provide a quick, precise fix to restore functionality and prevent further issues!
Repairs & Maintenance
Once we had identified the fault, we wasted no time getting it sorted. The crimp was replaced, ensuring the starter motor could rotate properly and that the system could start up as expected. To keep everything in top condition, we also topped up the water levels and wiped down the bund, making sure the CHP system was clean and prepped for use.
Final Checks
With the park temporarily closed, we left the system switched off but prepped for the future. Now, when the holidaymakers return, the CHP system will be ready and waiting to keep the lights on and the energy flowing, without any faff.

“This might sound like gobbledygook, but we were able to provide a quick, precise fix to restore functionality and prevent further issues!”
Conclusion
At Canning, we don’t just fix what’s broken, we make sure it stays solid for the long haul. With this holiday park’s CHP system now back in working order, Bourne Leisure can crack on knowing they’ve got reliable backup power when they need it.
Another job done, another site powered. That’s how we do things!
