Generator Hire
Diesel Generator Hire from 10kVA to 700kVA

Canning Generator Solutions offers diesel generator hire from 10kVA to 700kVA, using Pramac generators. Tell us what you need to power and our engineers will help you choose the right size.
You might need a hire generator for a planned shutdown, electrical works, a building site with no mains supply yet, an outdoor event, or because your own standby generator has failed.
Generators Available to Hire
We hire Pramac diesel generators from 10kVA to 700kVA. If you’re not sure what size you need, tell us what you need to power in the hire enquiry form, or use our generator sizing calculator.
- 10kVA to 60kVA: Suited to site cabins and welfare units, small building sites, shops, offices and outdoor events.
- 100kVA to 250kVA: Suited to larger building sites, schools and commercial buildings, or to cover a whole building while its standby generator is out of service.
- 350kVA to 700kVA: Suited to hospitals, data centres, factories and large events, where the load is heavy or the power supply is critical.
- Not sure? Use our sizing calculator or tell us what you need to power and we'll work it out.

We service, repair and install standby generators, so we know how to size a generator for the job. If your own generator is out of action, a hire generator can keep you running while our engineers repair it.
Hire Periods
Generator hire can run from a few days for a shutdown or event to several months for a building site waiting on its mains connection. Tell us how long you need it for and we’ll quote for that period.
If you need a permanent generator, we also supply and install Pramac generators, and a hire generator can cover you until it’s in.

Generator Hire FAQs
How much does generator hire cost?
It depends on the size of generator, how long you need it and where your site is. Send us the details and we’ll send a quote.
What size generator do I need?
It depends on what you need to run and whether it all starts at once. Add up the power of the equipment, allow extra for motors and other loads that draw more when they start, and leave some headroom. Our generator sizing calculator gives a starting point and our engineers can check it. We hire from 10kVA to 700kVA.
Can you supply three phase generators?
Yes. Most of the Pramac range from 10kVA to 700kVA is three phase, and some smaller models are single phase. Tell us which you need in the form. Our guide to single phase vs three phase power explains the difference.
Do you have silent generators?
The Pramac range includes silent and extra silent canopied models. Let us know in the form if noise matters on your site.
Do you have Stage V generators?
The Pramac range includes Stage V and Stage IIIA models. If your site has emissions rules, for example NRMM requirements on a construction site, tell us in the form and we’ll match the generator to them.
Can I hire a generator while mine is being repaired?
Yes. A hire generator can keep you running while our engineers repair or service your own.

CASE STUDY
Trusted by Leading Organisations
The generator at a prestigious Cardiff hospital faced operational challenges, including coolant leaks and contamination issues. The managing FM company enlisted Canning Generator Solutions to address these concerns and ensure the generator’s optimal performance.
During the initial project phase, our team opened permits and conducted a thorough Dynamic Risk Assessment. A meeting with the site contact allowed for a review of the generator’s fault history, and a comprehensive inspection of the generator was carried out to identify potential issues.
A specific focus was given to the inspection of the coolant system, revealing a bund filled with a mixture of coolant and rainwater. Evaluation of coolant pipes and hose joints showed no leaks, but a leak from the temperature probe on the engine block was identified. The repair and maintenance phase involved replacing the O-ring on the temperature probe, fitting a new 6mm bolt, and refilling the coolant system with clean water for a test run. Leaks observed during heavy rainfall were addressed during an off-load run, and recommendations were made for a fresh coolant refill and an oil change due to the presence of black, low-viscosity oil.
The clean-up process included draining and cleaning the bund and base frame, which were filled with coolant, rainwater, and oil residue. Further recommendations involved proposing a dry day test run to check for additional leaks and suggesting load bank testing for on-load running. For project closure, the team left the controller isolated due to the hire set connection and removed all waste generated from the site. The work area was left in a clean condition, and the project was officially concluded with the team signing out of the site and closing all permits.
